Desolation day
By james a. galgano
Lost across well worn desert's desolation
Where love and logic seem to be only an infestation
Among the vast wasteland and loneliness life appears
On the descending ending of a Sisyphus decline
Into the dark abyss below of some future time
Where the oceans die and coastlines retreat
Populations are left in turmoil struggling to survive
Freedoms are lost and corporate government control
Reigns supreme as the growing numbers hunger and die
What future have we given or children and those who follow
By our addiction to consume to fulfill our every wicked desire
As if all else meant little or nothing at all as long as we receive
All we wanted everyday new and improved though ads deceive
We all plagued by this infliction hoping possessing as believed
Would give eternal satisfaction but nothing is forever but price we now pay
With the dear cost of all others lives until our planet's desolation day
